National Eligibility Test is conducted in different subjects and one such subject is Library & Information Science. This paper is meant for candidates with PG qualification in this subject for lectureship and junior fellowship positions in the same faculty in universities and colleges functioning with recognition from the University Grants Commission.

The subjects is law in NET examination has its code number as 59 and examination for this subject includes two papers being paper II and Paper III. Paper III of Library & Information Science subject is again divided into Part A and Part B.

Paper II of Library & Information Science will have 50 objective type questions in the form of assertion-reasoning type, true or false, matching type and multiple choice questions. Library & Information Science paper II will have questions worth 100 marks (i.e.) two marks for each question. Syllabus for Library & Information Science jointly for paper II and III is divided into 10 units

As mentioned earlier, for taking up Library & Information Science in NET examination, candidates must have completed their PG degree in Library & Information Science from a recognized university.
